Hindsight is 2020

My Dad used to say "Hindsight is 20/20." He meant we can view the past clearly and see things we could not see while in the present.

Perspective can help.

Now we can say that the YEAR 2020 is behind us, and breathe a collective sigh of relief.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

All of us will remember 2020 as a year where the world changed. People work from home. Social distancing became a thing. Exposing yourself has a new meaning. Eating out means drive-through.

The daily, heroic efforts of doctors, nurses, medical technicians and First Responders have saved lives. Thank you to them for their efforts.

Yet many people died, directly or indirectly from Covid-19 or complications. That will continue for months, though we can now deploy vaccines to help.

Small businesses struggle to stay solvent. We tend to forget that these businesses are really people. They struggle to make ends meet, to financially provide for their families.

The US government printed billions of new dollars to help the hurting citizens of this country. Sadly, my friends, that bill will come due in the coming generations.

The year 2020 was just the first domino in a series. The medical, social and financial impacts of this pandemic and official response to it will follow us for years to come.

Yet though the pandemic does not follow a calendar, we do.

So for 2021, we can have personal aspirations. Strive to be better. Practice love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Everyone struggles. We don't all agree on all subjects (what a boring world that would be!), but do your best to accept that most people wish to do what is right.

Look for the best in people. Try to exemplify the best in yourself.

Have a Happy and Blessed New Year.

Thanks for reading.
